insect box and comics
been working on some concept drawings for a comic that we're about to start up. it's been running through my head for a few weeks, and the more i think about it, the more i wonder why i didn't start this sooner. it should be fairly obvious what the comic is based on from the
images...
tran got me a really cool handmade bag and little box from vietnam... they're awesome! thanks tran! thanks for the gyoza and asparagus soup, too!

kazu got me "cloud boy" by rhode montijo from APE. it's a wonderful book, with such a simple and amazing message. i think he's trying to tell me something...
i've been studying japanese, and i love the characters (they're beautiful). it's a joy to write. anyone know any good japanese children's books?
vicarious...
...is rocking me. oh man. may 2, please arrive.
in other news, i gracefully created a giant hole in my wall, right next to my bathroom. the way this happened is absolutely ridiculous.
birthdays and butterflies
happy birthday osmosis! happy birthday kazu!
jamie and i have been working on a japanese decor for the dining room at the fortress of awesome (house of dork), and the final piece of the puzzle is a large, multi-paneled illustrated sliding door. jamie's designing and building it, i'm illustrating it. hopefully it will turn out as we envision it... if it's close, it'll be something we're both proud of. anyway, it's fun, and that's the point. last weekend we began initial work on measuring the lumber, and i decided to
document our progress. why? why not. its 2006... we don't have flying cars, but at least we have the internet.
on an unrelated tangent, an unexpected guest has left me with butterflies in my stomach, and that's such a nice feeling. :)
hustle, and you'll get it
there are a few things better than chasing a frisbee in an open field on a perfect spring saturday, but none will enter my mind at the moment. here's a short piece i came up with... it's very game-like, i dig it.
i can't see 'em!
i've been hunting for this phrase ever since it got stuck in my head. every now and then i've felt the need to exclaim it, and i could not place where it was from. i would try playing the "movie line" game, hoping someone would guess it, but no one knew. yesterday we found it. man oh man, thank you biggs!
