tonight we saw the borat movie. sasha was absolutely hilarious, and unbelievably gutsy (there were a couple very, very disturbing scenes). although we were laughing so hard, the film is not just a comedy, but a pretty dim depiction of american culture, and there's a level of intelligence involved in presenting touchy topics through humor.

kotori 8 has hit the newstands (or will be any day now), and it's awesome! a bunch of the material is now live on the web site, so go check it out! we're already at work on issue 9 and the process is pretty darn streamlined now.

i picked up final fantasy 12 last week, which i have been cautiously waiting for since it's japanese release. i say cautious because i haven't been truly impressed with a final fantasy for years. ff x wasn't amazing, but it was at least fun and memorable. ff x-2 was a joke. so far, 12 is really really good. i love the new battle system and the story is mature and full of twists and political intrigue. the presentation is absolutely beautiful and most likely the best that the ps2 is gonna get. at first i thought the music was forgettable and seemed like white noise, but after playing it longer it's growing on me. i still think most of the character designs are ridiculous and you can just see an artist trying to be crazy with outfits rather than think about how these people logically fit into the world they live in. but yeah, it's sweet so far!

other tid-bits: i got promoted to senior designer at work! our new house-hunt continues! tomorrow is the three trees and three flowers show at nucleus! tomorrow's my mom's birthday too!
